Trying to lose weight this summer, I became quite an expert on beef jerky products. I tried quite a few. This bucket of meat as we called it was a great treat and fun to eat. There was only one I didn't finish--the spicy one as it was super spicy, too hot for me! My nephew loved it though. The cute bucket was a cute touch. The meat products were tasty, easy to chew, and not stringy. My husband and I liked it so much we ordered it for our son for Christmas. He is in the USN and was getting deployed. He loves to take jerky because it goes easy into his uniform pockets and he has a snack after long hours on duty. Considering how expensive meat products are, the bucket with 12 treats is a fairly good deal for a tasty product.I got this for my son for Christmas- great value and taste- he loved itI got this beef jerkey variety pack for my son and I. We both really like beef jerky and this pack looked interesting. Because of that, I think it makes a nice gift for someone who enjoys beef jerky. But there were a couple of issues. The first issue is that the tin had a dent in it, probably from shipping. Thats ok because we weren't planning on keeping the tin, but if you are, then be aware that this could be an issue. The second issue is that we both got upset stomachs from the beef jerky. This could be something from the ingredients that just doesn't sit well with us specifically. I would say that if your stomach normally handles this kind of stuff, then you might be just fine. But if it does not, be careful and maybe not eat too much at one time. The flavor of all of the beef jerky was good, and makes it worth trying this pack. The flavors are unique and interesting. Even the beef sticks were good. The price is kind of high, but... it's beef jerky and it seems like pretty good quality, so not bad considering all that. I think its worth the price as a gift for a beef jerky lover, or even for yourself :)This is a nice assortment of flavors but.... it is not 10 bags. Some of the ten count is small single meat sticks. I would be much happier with more bags of jerky but a smaller amount in each bag. My wife doesn't like jerky near as much as I do. When I open a bag, I need to remember to eat it all within a couple of days before it goes bad. This comes in an impressive gallon can that would make a nice gift. Just know that there are 6 bags and 4 small meat sticks.I think I would be happier with just plain old-fashioned beef jerky without the exotic flavorings added. I have not tried them all, yet. But, I have a road trip coming up and before the 1500 miles is all done, I am sure the jerky will be all gone. One of the big ploys I have become aware of is perceived value. That is to say make it look like a lot while it's really just made to look that way.I think there is a bit of that going on here but it's less so than some of the worst offenders. You get this tin with ten snacks in it. That's not ten bags of jerky. That's a combination of bags of jerky plus some small meat sticks. You get a few stickers and a foam drink holder. It's a nice tin and can be reused. The quantity of jerky is a bit lacking. It's mostly a bag of air with a little jerky in it. Some of the flavors are incredible. Orange teriyaki is wonderful. Brooklyn bagel is amazing. Turkey jerky and chicken jerky are awful. The meat sticks are sort of boring. Those too come in flavors like pepperoni and turkey. You're going to find that it's maybe a nice set of snacks for a group. Maybe you can take this on a trip with friends and you might get someone who likes each of the items here. For yourself it's sort of limited unless you really like all sorts of stuff.Would I pay $40 for it? Possibly not unless I just had to have it or had money to burn. I would go for jerky from the makers in the flavors I liked. As above that would be Brooklyn bagel and teriyaki. But it was nice to try it and really hard to rate it. I sort of left it at a four but it's somewhere between three and four.Overall, the beef ones are fairly tender and on the sweeter side (brown sugar is the second ingredient after beef for all of them) with slight fruity notes, sizeable pieces (minimal crumbs), and are somewhat sticky (from the sugar).Chicken - Tastes like chicken, On the tender side for jerky, firm side for regular cooked chicken - think denser chicken sausage patty. Multiple ~1” squares. A bit of kick from the Buffalo sauce/flavoring.Turkey - Ehhh, it’s not bad, but it’s not good either, at least for my tastes. The flavor doesn’t really jive with a jerky format.Pepperoni meat stick - decent flavor, a smidge dry/lean, a bit small (~3.5”)FYI (not factored in to rating) - Like a few others, my can arrived slightly dented,. It looked like there was adequate padding, and the shipping box had no signs of damage. The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is the price. At the time of this review it is $45 for 6 bags of meat bites/jerky, 4 mini meat sticks, a tin bucket, a koozie, and 2 stickers. However, if you can get past the price, this stuff is great, I've had Field Trip's products in the past and loved them as well. So far I have tasted 3 of the jerky varieties and they've been great. Chewy without being tough, pleasantly flavored without drowning out the taste of the meat, and just overall a great snack. I'll update this later is the remaining flavors are any different, but I expect them to be of the same high quality. One thing in particular I like about the Field Trip products I've had so far is that they are not overly greasy or dry. Some companies struggle with that balance of too much grease vs meat flavored sawdust-- but that's not the case here. They nailed their recipes and I love them.
